Grant Research & Application Development Process

Focus on building foundational skills needed to successfully pursue federal funding opportunities. This session provides participants with practical knowledge and skills in four major pre-award phases:

• Funding Opportunity Searches: Grant Research 101

• Navigating a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) 

• The Grant Application Development Process 

• Budget Development  

Narrative Writing and Pre-award Tools

Hybrid training and workshop focused on the strategies and tools needed to develop strong, competitive applications. The morning training session provides participants with practical knowledge and skills in two major pre-award phases: 

• Writing Compelling Grant Narratives 

• Utilizing Pre-award Tools to Increase Grant Application Competitiveness

In the afternoon workshop participants will actively develop portions of their own narratives, create logic models, map roles and responsibilities, and evaluate project readiness using guided work sessions and facilitator support.

Program Administration

Focus on equipping participants with the knowledge and practical tools to manage federal and state grants after the award, ensuring compliance, accountability, and performance in alignment with 2 CFR 200 and the OMB Compliance Supplement. The training will be split into four sessions covering the following compliance areas: 

• Understanding Your Award – Reading and Interpreting the Grant Agreement 

• Procurement and Property Management

• Subrecipient Monitoring 

• Performance and Financial Reporting 

Financial Management

Focus on equipping participants with the practical knowledge, tools, and confidence needed to manage federal awards after receipt, ensuring compliant financial systems, proper management of federal funds, and effective handling of grant changes in accordance with 2 CFR Part 200. This session of post-award training will be split into four sessions covering the following compliance areas:  

• Post-Award Financial Management Requirements 

• Federal Payments, Cost Sharing 

• Program Income, and Budget Revisions 

• Applying Cost Principles  

Internal Controls

Hybrid training and workshop focused on building a strong internal control framework and developing policies to manage Federal grant funds. The morning training session provides participants with practical knowledge and skills in two major post-award compliance areas: 

•  Implementing Successful Internal Controls and Performing Risk Management Self-Assessments

• Successfully Manage the Closeout and Long-term Compliance of Grants

In the afternoon workshop participants will work through practical activities such as policy development and conducting risk self-assessment activities using guided work sessions and facilitator support.
