4th Grade Curriculum
By now, your children have a pretty solid understanding of how libraries work, what they're used for, and how to access information from a library (and elsewhere!). So it is beginning in Fourth Grade that we start to fine tune these integral life-long skills in preparation for your children to be successful in Middle School, High School, and beyond!
In Fourth Grade, we continue to explore the fundamental skills necessary to master the Inquiry process of learning. These skills will help carry them through life - whether they need to research a paper for Social Studies or find the best local Italian restaurant. It all comes down to being able to define a task, locate relevant sources, evaluate and use the information, and finally, synthesize it all in such a way that students gain an authentic understanding of the new material. A library is the ideal setting for our budding researchers to practice using these skills in a safe and structured environment.
