When you leave your assignment location and repatriate to Canada, it's a huge change. Not only are you going through an international move, but YOU'VE changed as a person. In addition, your children are moving to a country that they may have only ever visited, one that doesn't necessarily feel like 'home' to them. It's important to take time to prepare for the transition and to process your experiences, past and present, together as a family.
If you would like to plan for a family debrief, please email tckcare-ed@wycliffe.ca. Speak to your staff care advisor if you or your children would like to attend a re-entry retreat:

Returning Well by Melissa Chaplin
2015
Returning Well invites you into a guided conversation with your Creator that will reveal and apply invaluable insights as you reflect on your recent season of cross-cultural service. By using Returning Well, you will discover how this season influenced you, how to re-integrate well, and what moving forward in faith means for you.
The audience of this book is aimed at adult cross-cultural workers, rather than TCKs themselves, but parents may find helpful perspectives to share with their children.
Ending Well by Ellen Rosenberger
2017
Are you returning to your home country after living internationally and wondering how you are going to survive the transition? Are you a family member or a friend of someone returning from overseas and want to know how to understand and love them through their re-entry? Perhaps you returned “home” a while ago and never truly processed the emotions involved in your move. Ending Well takes a look at the multi-faceted process of moving from host country to home country. Whether you are a missionary, an embassy worker, in the military or a global worker of any kind, this book addresses the pain, the stress, the excitement, and the hope of thriving in an international move.
Re-Entry by Peter Jordan
2013
Peter Jordan, missionary with YWAM, wrote Re-Entry for missionaries returning “home” from “the field.” A quick read, he compares a missionary’s return to home to an astronaut’s return to earth from space orbit. The book helps you realize that the return needs attention just as much as the initial launch into overseas ministry. It is vital for missionary families to prepare going both directions, and this book brings attention to that need in a fun way.
The cover looks a little dated but it is an excellent guide for your transition back 'home.' The intended audience is for adults, but parents may choose to read it and share their insights with their children.
