HIGH SCHOOL
Art Club | Advisor: Mrs. Pamela Duffus
The Art Club meets once a week and is open to students in grades 9-12. Art Club is an open studio time for students to work on projects such as portfolios, classroom work, or any creative project of interest. The Art Club also holds fundraisers and completes community service projects, such as the Empty Bowl Project.
National Art Honor Society | Advisors: Mrs. Michele Keller & Ms. Pamela Duffus
The National Art Honor Society (NAHS) is designed specifically for high school students in grades 9-12. In 1978, the National Art Education Association began the National Art Honor Society program to inspire and recognize students who have shown an outstanding ability and interest in art. The NAHS strives to aid members in attaining the highest standards in art scholarship, character, and service, and to bring art education to the attention of the school and community. At WWRSD, students admitted to the NAHS participate in organizing community events such as the annual Pumpkin Carving, run workshops at the elementary schools, create art exhibits, and more.
Stage Art Club | Advisor: Mr. Joseph Fritz
Stage Art Club is part of the high school theatre production company, The Woodington Players. Students in Stage Art Club work on painting sets and helping design props for the fall play and spring musical. This is a great way to get involved with both the theatre and the art department if you are interested in working behind the scenes.
Culinary Arts Club | Advisor: Chef A
"Cooking up creativity, one recipe at a time."
The Culinary Arts Club is open to all students in grades 9-12 who are interested in exploring the world of food and cooking. We meet twice a month to create fun and approachable recipes, from sweet treats like shortbread and cookies to savory dishes such as quick pastas and snacks. Our goal is to give students hands-on experience in the kitchen, build confidence with basic culinary techniques, and enjoy the creativity of cooking together. No prior cooking experience required - just bring curiosity and an appetite to learn!
The Woodington Players | Mrs. Lauren Florek
The Woodington Players is an extra-curricular theatre company whose mission is to provide students at Westwood Regional with an enriching, cultural, educational and inspiring experience through theatrical productions. The Woodington Players produces two shows annually, including the fall play and the spring musical. General meetings are held on a monthly basis and there are other opportunities for field trips and becoming a member of the International Thespian Society.
Marching Band & Color Guard | Director: Mr. M. Daniel Pena | Assistant Director: Mr. Joseph Fritz | Color Guard: Ms. Eileen Nagle
The Cardinals Marching Band & Color Guard perform at halftime at all of the Varsity Football Games and has represented the school at events such as the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C. (May 2016). The band is open to students in Grades 9-12 and rehearsals start in August.
Pit Orchestra | Advisor: Mr. M. Daniel Pena
The pit orchestra performs during the high school musical, supporting the Woodington Players. From January through March they rehearse twice a week and this increases once showtime nears. No audition is necessary. Announcements about how to join "the pit" will be posted in December in the Band Room.
Tri-M Music Honor Society | Advisor: Mr. Joseph Fritz
The Tri-M Music Honor Society is the international music honor society for middle/junior high and high school students. It is designed to recognize students for their academic and musical achievements, reward them for their accomplishments and service activities, and to inspire other students to excel at music and leadership. Applications are due each April and an induction ceremony is held in May. Students in Tri-M are required to perform extensively in the community and to help at events in the school, acting as ushers, ticket-takers, etc.
The Woodwind Ensemble is comprised of a variety of woodwind instruments such as clarinets, flutes and saxophones and is open to students in grades 9-12. The ensemble meets once weekly after school for rehearsals and participates in performances such as the Riverside Square Mall holiday concert and the annual Ensemble Night. No audition required.
Film Club | Advisor: Ms. Joan Petrocelli
The Film Club meets monthly to make movies, talk about movies and watch movies. Students discuss ideas for scripts in an open forum and learn the basics of using Final Cut Pro X to edit their films. The Film Club meets monthly and encourages members to enter their projects in local, regional and national short film festivals, often earning prizes for students. The club is open to all students whether they want to lead, participate, or just listen in.
MIDDLE SCHOOL
Cardinal Chorus | Ms. Jasmin Yoo
Cardinal Chorus is an auditioned ensemble, selected from within music classes. This select group meets after school on Thursdays from 3:05-3:45pm. It is a full academic year commitment! The Cardinal Chorus participates in many community events, and performs in Chamber Night along with Jazz Band and Chamber ensemble.

Chamber Ensemble | Mrs. Amy Peterson and Mr. Michael Barbieri
Chamber Ensemble is open to any middle school student who plays a band instrument and wants to explore small group music-making. You'll build skills in collaboration, listening, and performance as you rehearse and perform chamber music from a variety of styles and time periods. This ensemble meets before school on Tuesdays from 7:30AM-8:05AM. The Chamber Ensemble is a full year club and performs at two night concerts throughout the school year.
Jazz Band | Mrs. Amy Peterson and Mr. Michael Barbieri
Jazz Band is an auditioned instrumental ensemble, selected from within music classes. This ensemble meets after school on Wednesdays from 3:05PM-4:00PM. Jazz Band gives students a chance to learn about swing, blues, funk, and improvisation while playing fun and challenging music as part of a group. The Jazz Band is a full year club and performs at two night concerts throughout the school year.
Art Club | Ms. Lynda Panno and Ms. Kate Capizzi
WRMS Art Club is open to all middle school students who enjoy being creative and want extra time to explore art beyond the classroom. Members will experiment with a wide variety of materials and techniques, from drawing and painting to sculpture and mixed media. Students will have opportunities to work on both personal projects and also group collaborations with friends in a relaxed and supportive environment. The club is a great way to build artistic skills, express creativity, and connect with other students who share a love of the arts—all while having fun and trying new things!
AV Club | Ms. Lauren Proda
In AV Club, students collaborate to create fun and engagin virtual content for the school community. There is a place for everyone in AV Club! Some students enjoy being in front of the camera, while others prefer being behind the scenes with tasks like editing, animating, or filming the action. Creativity is the heart of what we do -- members might put together a highlight montage of a basketball game, write and film a silly cooking show scene, or interview a favorite teacher. AV Club is the perfect place to share your ideas and bring them to life!
