INTEGRATING CHOICE INTO YOUR CURRICULUM

Decision making and creative problem solving are essential skills that should be encouraged in all art classes. Art teachers can help students become independent thinkers. Today, many students are looking for step-by-step, clear directions on how to make art. They are often flustered when they are encouraged to make their own decisions and develop their own ideas. Encouraging more choice-based learning in the art room will help students develop confidence, self-motivation, and creative problem solving skills essential to success in so many careers.
