Below is a list of guidelines and expectations that will assist you as you use Genesis to track your child’s progress. These apply both to how you should use Genesis and what you should expect from the teachers as they post your child’s grades.
Check Genesis as often as you like, but if you have a question for a teacher and you send an email, allow at least 24 hours for a response.
As the quarter begins, assignments have a greater effect on your child’s average. Recognize that one missed homework assignment or low score on a quiz or test will impact the average greatly. As the quarter advances, your child will have many opportunities to improve.
If you see a blank under an assignment, that grade counts neither for nor against your child. It indicates an assignment that has not yet been handed in or graded. Check the teacher’s web page to see if the assignment and its due date are listed. Then, check with your child to ensure that the assignment was completed and handed in.
Teachers are expected to enter grades and return assessments in a timely fashion. Here are the Math Department timelines:
Homework- entered for the week by the following Monday
Quizzes- within one week
Tests- within one week
Projects- within two weeks of the project being collected
Be sure to check the teachers’ websites before you send an email. Many of your questions can be answered on their pages.
If you are having any difficulties with the Genesis Parent Portal, please reach out to the Middle School Counseling Department.
