What is the FAFSA?
The FAFSA stands for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It is a FREE form that you fill out with some information about your household to get money for college!
Ready to fill out the fafsa? Do this first!
Create an FSA ID (FAFSA Account)
Figure out who your "contributor(s)" is if you are a dependent student.
Is it Mom? Dad? Mom and Dad? Mom and Step-dad? Dad and Step-mom?
Have your contributor(s) create an FSA ID, if they don't have one already.
Tip: Have parent(s) create account 1-3 business days before completing the FAFSA. This gives them time to get verified, which will make the form much faster to complete.
Collect the following information:
Personal Information (Name, Address, Social Security Number, etc)
Contributor Information (Name, SSN if they have one, Email, and Date of Birth)
List of colleges/universities you will or have applied to (up to 20)
2022 W-2 or other tax forms (if applicable)
Total current amount in your checking and savings account (if applicable)
Net worth of investments (if applicable)
Now you are ready to complete the FAFSA!
