Crew Application Process is an important part of building a working ensemble that can elevate the performances on the stage to another level. This group helps the audience experience the magic of theatre outside of the acting on the stage. Through lighting, sound, set, costumes, and special theatrical effects, this group works closely with the Artistic Director to bring the Director's vision to life.
The Production Crew consists of those that build the show from the ground up. These crew members paint, hang and focus lights, construct sets, and build props and costumes. Their job is to assist in the design and building of the production.
The Run Crew is the crew that runs the show, this is the Crew that is run by the Stage Manager who calls the show. This crew moves set/prop pieces on and off stage during the show, runs the lighting and sound board, and work as ushers and backstage runners during the performances.
This team puts the show together, and helps create the illusion of the destination. This team will begin work at the beginning of the rehearsal process and will have their own schedule during the week and on Saturdays. Being on this team needs motivation, creativity, and strong problem solving skills. This is the team professionally known as the Theatrical Design/Tech team.
This team "runs" the show. This team will have 2 weeks rehearsals with the ensemble of actors on the stage and will need to be at all shows/productions. Being on this team needs strong focus, problem solving skills, and being able to work quickly and quietly to help the actors and the show run smoothly. This team is professionally known as a Theatrical Run/Tech Crew.
