Stage Crew = Crew that comes and works during the rehearsal process and on all technical aspects of a production prior to the "run" of the show.
Run Crew = Crew that comes and works during the performances, these could be moving set pieces, or helping to create an illusion on stage, to helping with costume changes during a show or being the spotlight tech.
● Must to be physically and mentally able to work in backstage conditions including working in a chaotic environment, darkness, silence, and moving heavy set pieces
● Must be able to listen to direction from Stage Manager(s) and adults and then follow through
● You must be willing and able to adjust quickly when things go wrong
● You will be needed for every rehearsal when we start running the show which will be later in the production, and needed for every show, when the actors are on during a performance, you are "on" back stage making sure the audience doesn't see you and the show runs smoothly.
● Responsible for all the lighting effects in the show including running the board and working spot-lights
● Must be willing to take direction
● You will be needed for every rehearsal when we start running the show (later in the production) and also for special tech rehearsals and when we test lights
● Must be physically and mentally able to work in specialized environment including quickly fixing problems without panic and being able to communicate quietly
● Responsible for all the sound and sound effects used during the show and for placement and care of microphones
● Must know that the equipment you are working with is very expensive and must be treated as such
● Must be willing to take direction
● You will be needed for every rehearsal when we start running the show (later in the production) and also for special tech rehearsals
● Must be physically and mentally able to work in a specialized environment including quickly fixing problems without panic and being able to communicate quietly
● Responsible for planning out costumes to be used during the production with supervision and final approval of Directors
● You will help take measurements of all cast members for costume purposes and will keep all information confidential- Directors will let you know when this rehearsal will take place
● You may be asked to make a specific costume or specific piece of a costume ● You may be asked to do simple sewing projects such as sewing on a button or other fastener or making a simple repair
● You will assist any cast member who needs help with a change
● You will help to collect and inventory costumes at the end of the production
● You will need to be available throughout the production
● Responsible for planning out the makeup and hair-styles to be used during the production with supervision and final approval of Directors
● Must inventory all supplies and make a list of anything you need a director to purchase
● Must clean and organize your supplies before the production and after every single show
● You will be needed for planning purposes at the beginning of the production then closer to show time when we are having dress rehearsals with makeup
● You may also be required to attend a specially called rehearsal where you will instruct the non-specialty makeup people on proper application of makeup
Prop master/mistress job is to manage the locating, creating, and collection of props.
The Prop Master will read the script and become familiar with it.
The Prop Master will determine the specific prop needs as outlined in the script and design a prop plot/spreadsheet appropriate for the show, and discuss what is needed with the director.
Instructing cast and crew on how to operate, the care of, and placement of personal and set props.
Set up the prop table and create space to keep props safe.
Fix and maintain all personal and set props during the run of the show
The Prop Crew will follow the lead of the Prop Master and will not be needed for actual performances, unless prop maintenance is needed.
● You will wear old clothes and shoes to every workday because you will get dirty
● Must be available for Saturday workdays and specially called evening workdays
● You will be busiest at the beginning of the production, but will be done prior to performances.
● Must be physically and mentally able to perform in loud, sometimes chaotic conditions without adding to the chaos
● Must listen to adults and do exactly as they ask because you are working in potentially dangerous situations
● You will get to learn the proper use of tools and
● Must help clean up after every workday so area can be used by other groups
