The Woodbridge High School Choirs are ensembles that focus on the development of comprehensive choral musicianship through performance. Members will be exposed to a breadth of music literature with an emphasis on high quality music making and thorough understanding. The choirs will perform frequently throughout the school year at school and community events.
According to the WTSD Curriculum Guide, by the completion of the year, all students will be expected to accomplish the following:
Demonstrate proper singing technique through vocal production, i.e., phonation, vocal resonance, and breath control.
Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of basic and multiple rhythms.
Demonstrate the ability to sing an appropriate vocal line against two or three other voices, both accompanied and a capella.
Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of all musical notation and common musical terms.
Perform in at least one world language.
Demonstrate, at public concerts, musical skills acquired during the school year.
Attend all public functions at which the choir has been invited to represent the school and community.
Demonstrate a basic knowledge of the stylistic characteristics of the historical period of music.
Perform music of various cultures
