5 Core Expectations
1. Everyone is treated with respect. There is zero tolerance for disrespectful comments or actions, especially regarding race, gender, or sexual orientation.
2. Instructions and directions are followed the first time.
3. Students come to class prepared with all notes/rhythms/lyrics learned. Class time is not your individual practice time. Practice tracks and music are on Google Classroom.
4. One person talks at a time; students raise their hands to be acknowledged.
5. Problems or conflicts are brought to the teacher privately and in a polite manner.
Other Classroom Procedures
Class starts when the bell rings. Students not sitting in their assigned seat at that time may be marked late.
Do not use cell phones, chromebooks, ipads, or earbuds during class. Doing so will result in a lower participation grade for the day and your device to be taken away.
When one section is working, all others are expected to follow along quietly. DO NOT work on other homework/classwork. Doing so will result in a zero for the day.
Choir officers serve as role models and act as liaisons between the director and students. Treat them with respect and comply with their directions and requests.
Food, beverages (other than water), and gum/candy are not to be consumed in the classroom.
Minor Assessments: 50%
These may include daily rehearsal habits, worksheets, written assignments, and journal topics.
Major Assessments: 50%
These may include performances, singing tests, and written tests.
Daily Rehearsal Habits Grade
Students begin each class period with 100 points. Points will be deducted for the following: missing music/folder/pencil, using electronic devices, disruptive or distracting behavior, or a performance not reflective of learned material.
Performance Grade
You are expected to attend all performances both during and outside of school hours. You will earn full credit (100) by appearing on time and performing appropriately. Points will be deducted for the following: missing music/folder, improper/missing attire, tardiness, disruptive or distracting behavior, or a performance not reflective of learned material.
If you miss a class or performance, you MUST complete a makeup assignment (available on Google Classroom) within 1 week to receive full credit. Failure to do so will result in a zero.
