Quill & Scroll is an International Honor Society for students involved in high school media (Journalism, Yearbook & PTV). Quill and Scroll International Honorary Society for High School Journalists was organized April 10, 1926, at the University of Iowa by renowned pollster George H. Gallup and a group of high school advisers for the purpose of encouraging and recognizing individual student achievement in journalism and academics. The organization has a Board of Trustees composed of 11 high school and collegiate journalism educators, and media-related professionals.
Requirements for Quill and Scroll (Yearbook): *ALL REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET
*You must give 100% from September until the last deadline!
1. You must be at least a Junior.
2. You must have at least an A grade point average or higher each marking period.
3. You must have produced superior work in some phase of journalism and design - designing layouts, taking photos, etc, where almost no editing is needed when proofing spreads.
4. You must voluntarily take on additional tasks; such as, staying after school for photographs or other work, fixing/editing other spreads, etc.
5. You must consistently demonstrate leadership qualities.
6. You must have equal amount of spread history within your group (actually logged in with your account and worked on spreads).
7. You must hit all deadline dates with no missing information/elements on assigned spreads.
8. You must be recommended by Mrs. Allen for Journalism, Ms. Aochoa for Yearbook, and Ms. Abrams for PTV.
Requirements for Yearbook Scholarship:
All of the above requirements for Quill and Scroll pertain to receiving this scholarship
You must attend to majority of the before/after school yearbook meetings.
You must attend after school sports and events to take photos for the yearbook.
