Grading
At the beginning of each marking period, students will be given a list of possible activities for the marking period. These activities will fall into two categories: academic and production.
Grading System
I will grade assignments as a minor or major assessment. Student may consult with me at any time to check on the current status of their grade.
Major Assessments (50%): Spread deadlines, assigned after school photo shoots, Digital Photography projects, class critiques.
Minor Assessments (50%): Workbook activities, classroom activities, benchmarks, group work, class participation.
*It is very important that every student keeps up with his/her assignments and asks for help when he/she falls behind. It is also important for those without a current deadline to help those with deadlines. The more jobs a student does, the more points he/she can receive- can go towards any major assessment.
Visible progress benchmark grades to complete spreads are scored as follows:
A (100) = Student demonstrates understanding of concepts/skills gained and has met or exceeded progress benchmark.
B (91) = Student demonstrates adequate understanding of concept/skills gains but minor adjustments of work is required to meet progress benchmark
C (82) = Student demonstrates some understanding of concept/skills to be gained, but requires up to half a class period of additional time to meet progress
benchmark.
D (73) = Student has demonstrated minimum understanding of concept/skills to be gained and requires at least a full additional class period to meet progress benchmark.
F (63) = Student has not demonstrated understanding of concept/skills to be gained and required more than one additional class period to meet progress benchmark
F (0) = Student has not demonstrated an effort to understand concept or skills to be gained and has not attempted to meet progress benchmark
