Block 4Â
The English 1 Honors course is tailored for students with strong reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language skills. It focuses on advancing college and career readiness through student-centered, interdisciplinary activities. Centered around the New Jersey Student Learning Standards, the course challenges students to analyze complex texts, think critically, and express themselves effectively in academic and real-world contexts. It pairs nonfiction with fiction for deeper analysis and uses multimedia resources to enhance understanding. Emphasis is placed on research, synthesis, citing evidence, and close reading. The course also develops writing, grammar, and communication skills, with a final project that involves creating a Google Site Portfolio to showcase learning and foster collaboration with schools and families.
