Suggested Supplies

Suggested Supply List

Although students are not required to supply all of their own materials, it is a good idea to begin building a collection of various art materials for future use. Thesuggested supply list provides some direction. As a personal recommendation, try to collect materials over time; art materials are expensive. Wait for opportunities to ask for help in building this collection (i.e. birthday gifts, holidays, special occasions, etc).

AP Studio Art is considered a collegiate level course. As an Advanced Placement student, you are required to provide yourself with some of the necessary supplies that will enable you to create in a successful manner.

Since Pearl in Woodbridge closed, I have made a list of suggested supplies that you can order online at www.DickBlick.com, Hol Craft, Viking Wood Crafts and Jerry's Art-A-Rama. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ORDER ONLINE. However, it may be easier than traveling to another Pearl location or other art supply stores. Also, if you are comfortable purchasing items from Amazon or eBay, you can find good deals on brand new or barely used supplies.

I understand that finances may be tight right now. Your do not NEED to purchase any/all of these supplies. If there are specific materials you would like but cannot purchase all at once, contact an AP/Major class member and see if you can split some of the supplies (you buy some, I’ll buy some others, then share). I have also found it helpful to ask for some of your supplies as gifts for birthdays and/or special occasions. Though colored pencils may not seem like an exciting birthday gift, you would greatly benefit from having your own set. After all, you will be working on your pieces at home on a daily basis and I do not have the budget to supply each advanced art student their his/her own set of Prismacolor Pencils.

Borrowing Materials

You may sign out materials from the class with the teacher’s permission to work on your project at home, and you are expected to return these materials before first block the following day as other students in other classes may need them. If you fail to return the materials, you will be fined for the replacement cost. You may not borrow materials to do projects for other classes. The art room only has enough supplies for our current art students and we regret we are unable to share with other subject areas.
