Meets

Our meets start at 4:00 pm. On meet days, we will be picked up by bus from IMS around 3:30 pm and return at approximately 5:30 pm. You must arrange for transportation home when we get back to IMS. The dates of our meets are:

Practices

Our first practice will be on Monday, March 24th. Please show up with appropriate clothing, sneakers and water.
Practices run from 7:00 am to 8:00 am on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Practices will always begin at the IMS gym and then we will either stay inside or go outside depending on the weather. Please arrive between 6:50 am and 6:55 am. Don’t be late! Three unexcused absences from practice is grounds for dismissal from the team.
We will not have practice on the days that we have meets.

Behavior/Grades

In order to participate on the IMS Cross Country team you must have a good school behavior record. Additionally, during the meets, you must represent IMS in a positive way and demonstrate good sportsmanship. Moreover, your academic performance must be satisfactory. If you don’t meet these standards, you may be removed from the team.

What is Cross Country?

Cross country is a sport where teams or individuals compete in long-distance outdoor runs. At the middle school level in our district, each of the district’s 5 middle schools compete against one another on a 1.5-mile course at Merrill Park. During the season, each school runs against one another once. The season culminates with the Meet of Champions where the top 10 runners from each school compete for a district championship and individual awards.
