Welcome to the Choir!
The award winning Choral Program at Woodbridge Middle School is open to any 6th, 7th or 8th Grade Student who loves to sing. You can learn more about the three groups offered at WMS by using the drop down menu and by reading the Frequently Asked Questions below.
I've never sung before. Can I join the Choir?
Of course! Students of all ability levels are welcome to participate in 6th Grade Choir and Concert Choir. There is a place here for every student who is willing to work hard and be part of a team.
What are the choral groups offered at WMS?
At Woodbridge Middle School, we offer three choral groups for the 2025-2026 School Year:
6th Grade Choir - All 6th Grade Students, No Audition Required! Rehearses as an elective offered Quarters 1 and 3 with occasional rehearsals before school on Wednesdays.
Concert Choir - All 7th and 8th Grade Students, No Audition Required! Rehearses as an elective offered Quarters 1 and 3 with occasional rehearsals after school on Wednesdays.
Camerata - By Audition Only & must also be an active member of 6th Grade Choir or Concert Choir. Rehearses after school on Mondays.
Do Choir Students have to take the class?
Yes. Choir students should enroll in the Vocal Music Class Quarters One and Three. This is where we will prepare most of the songs for both our Winter and Spring Concerts. You can take any of the other great electives we offer at WMS during Quarters Two and Four!
I would like to be in both Choir and Band. Will that be possible?
Yes! Many students take advantage of the opportunity to be a member of both our Instrumental and Vocal Music programs. Please see Mr. McGuire or Mrs. Maneri if you are interested in being a member of both groups.
What's Camerata? How is it different than the other choirs?
Camerata ("small choir") is our Select Choir for students eager to perform more challenging music. In addition to attending all Concert Choir/6th Grade Choir rehearsals, members of Camerata will have an additional rehearsal on Mondays, and will perform 1-2 additional selections in the Winter and Spring Concerts, as well as other community events which require a smaller group. Auditions will be in mid October - click here for info.
Are we going on a Competition Trip again?
Yes! 7th and 8th Grade Students in Concert Choir and all members of Camerata will have the opportunity to attend the Music in the Parks Competition this year, along with the WMS Symphonic Band. After competing for trophies in an adjudicated performance, students will spend the rest of the afternoon at a nearby theme park with their friends.
This trip is a special privilege ~ students with behavior infractions or who miss any mandatory performance will NOT be allowed to participate.
