2025-2026 CBL Project
Use the Power of Storytelling to Create Connections and Change
Storytelling connects us across cultures by honoring multicultural heritage and shared humanity. Through diverse stories and activities, we build empathy, challenge stereotypes, and inspire meaningful change rooted in understanding and respect.
Multicultural Stations & School Visits –The Why:Â
Fosters interconnections between schools and towns
Helps to make a large district of 24 schools and a township of 10 towns, feel more connected
Provides role models of different and similar cultures for younger students
Younger students can see themselves in high school presenters
Programs & presentations provide academic and social emotional learning
Presenters have practice with public speaking, & creating and organizing presentations
Allows for students to meet who may never have crossed paths with each other due to geography
Allows students to reconnect with some of their former elementary teachers

Our Big Idea!
Students were asked to think of problems they felt were present at Mawbey in 2021. Students cited issues of getting along and lack of playground games.
Our Essential Question: How can we make Mawbey recess time more peaceful and fun?
2021-2022 Phase 1: Brainstorm ideas for the playground and ways to help students solve conflicts. Research information for both areas.
2022-2023 Phase 2: Learn more about Conflict Resolution. Train Student Council members and classes of students on using I Messages. Classrooms start creating and utilizing Calm Down and Get Along areas to utilize conflict resolution techniques. Put playground painting into motion. Teach students more recess group games during physical education classes.
2023-2024 Phase 3: Training students to use Conflict Resolution techniques inside and outside during and after recess. Instruct and review conflict resolution techniques, especially calm down and I message use. All classrooms will utilize a signed area for Caring and Calming Centers.
2024-2025 Phase 4: CBL Teacher Team will train Student Council members to become Kindness Ambassadors. Previous Kindness Ambassadors will provide peer to peer training and modeling as well. Students will be trained for class reading, discussion, conflict resolution techniques, calming assistance, and how to deal with big problems vs small problems. Kindness Ambassadors will have a schedule and partnership to follow and check in with teachers and students.
