Guidelines for a Successful Semester

These expectations will help us create a positive, respectful, and productive classroom for everyone.

Preparados – Come prepared.
Please bring your charged Chromebook, a writing utensil, notebook, and folder each day. Only materials needed for Spanish should be on your desk.

Do Now– Get started right away.
When you enter class, I will greet you and a short activity will be posted on the board. Please begin as soon as you are seated. Your Do-Now will be completed on the Google Classroom daily.

Tarea – Complete assignments on time.
Homework is due on Google Classroom by the posted date and time. Late assignments lose 10 points per day.

If you are absent, you will have 2 days for each day missed to complete your work.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)
The use of AI tools, including ChatGPT, is not permitted for classwork, homework, projects, writing assignments, or assessments.

All work submitted must be your own and reflect your current Spanish skills. Using AI to translate, write, correct, or complete an assignment will result in a loss of credit and a grade of 0 for that assignment.

Leaving the classroom.
Only one student may use the restroom at a time, and you must have your student ID. At the end of class, please remain seated until the bell rings.

Electrónicos – Keep devices away.
Cell phones, AirPods, headphones, tablets, and other personal electronic devices are not allowed in class. Devices used without permission may be collected according to school policy.

My goal is for everyone to feel comfortable, respected, and successful in Spanish. If we all follow these expectations, we can have a fun and productive semester together.

Major Assessments

Tests – Each unit includes two lessons, followed by a unit test. Tests will always be announced in advance in class and posted online so you have time to prepare.

Projects – Throughout the semester, you may complete projects in class or at home. I will clearly let you know when a project counts as a Major Assessment.

Please submit projects by the due date unless an extension has been given. Otherwise, 10 points will be deducted for each day the project is late.

Minor Assessments

Do Now – Start right away.
There will be a Do Now every day when you enter the classroom. Please begin as soon as you are seated and follow the directions posted.

Do Nows are completed during class and cannot be turned in late. If you are absent, you are not responsible for the Do Now from that day.

Classwork – Practice matters.
You will have daily assignments to practice the concepts we are learning. Not every assignment will be graded, and I will always let you know when an assignment counts toward your grade.

If you do not finish an assignment during the time provided in class, please complete it for homework and submit it before class the following day. Work submitted after that time is considered late.

Late assignments will lose 10 points for each day they are late.

Quizzes – Be prepared.
Quizzes will always be announced in advance, and you can expect at least one quiz per week. Most quizzes will be completed through Google Forms.
