Students in English classes will read one novel during the course of the semester. The elements of fiction in the novel will be analyzed and explained throughout the book, thus providing the students with the knowledge they need to fully understand this piece of literature. Students will research information based on the exposition of the novel and information about the author as well. Furthermore, real life connections will be made to American history and the time period.
All of the reading will be done aloud in class. Students will be participating in activities throughout the book, which will demonstrate comprehension of the story. In addition to this, students will be completing quizzes, an essay related to this novel, and a test once the novel is finished.
