Students in class will learn about the life of William Shakespeare. Students will gain knowledge on his background, the plays he created, and the sonnets he wrote. Students will also learn about the Elizabethan era and the Globe Theater. Audiences today still enjoy his work, because of his extraordinary skill in depicting human nature. His topics deal with universal struggles that all people face. His plays provide something for everyone. Shakespeare's plays include lyrical poetry.
English 1&2
Students in English 1 will read the play, "The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet" Students in English 2 will read the play, "Macbeth." These plays are written in five acts that are separated into scenes. Students will choose character parts to read aloud. Upon completion, students will demonstrate their knowledge of the play through a test, essay, and project.
