When you steal a student's STRUGGLE, you steal the learning. When you support the STRUGGLE, you take that student farther than ever.
Hi and welcome to our website--the teacher page!
Please explore...you will find supplemental enrichment ideas and differentiated ideas for the classroom. Please check the 'HOME' tab for updates and special events. Please check the 'PARENT PAGE' tab for additional resources and information about twice exceptional students. It is our hope that having one website will help alleviate any confusion that inevitably arises when a program takes place in 3 schools and across 3 grade levels!
Thank you all for your continued support and patience. We are very open to your ideas about how to improve the program, so please feel free to email either one of us, or chat with us at your convenience. We are available to consult with you about how to to provide differentiated lessons in your classroom for your higher level learners as well.
We all have to work together to ensure that all of our learners are receiving the education that they need. It takes a team!

G&T Time Information
Children who are gifted and talented often have social/emotional difficulties. They may have trouble 'fitting in' with their peers and are often misunderstood by other students as well as by adults. Many of them are extremely emotional, and they can have other 'overexcitabilities' that make it hard for them to get along with others. *Click on these links for more about overexcitablities and how to manage them: SENG Gifted, Byrdseed, NAGC(scroll to the bottom for great resources).
We have created G&T Time as a way for our gifted and talented students to develop their social/emotional skills. It's a chance for them to play higher-level thinking games, build and create, solve puzzles, and explore with others of similar interests. It helps solidify and nurture a peer group with which they may be able to relate to and identify with, and in which they may create meaningful connections. We give the G&T students the option to invite a friend along during this time if they would like to share this experience with a classmate who is not in the program. If you are experiencing issues with G&T Time, please speak with us directly.
G&T Students Missing Class
Here are some suggestions for managing missed work:
1-If the student has already mastered the skill you are working on, perhaps they caneither 'skip' the assignment or complete a condensed version of it (curriculum compacting).
2-Pre-asses G&T students (or all students) to determine if the skills the students are learning are already mastered. If so, they do not need to make up any of the missed work. This is a great way to differentiate within the classroom!
3-Provide G&T students with their assignment ahead of time and have them complete it on their own at home or during class time.
4-Plan tests and special activities for days that we do not have G&T. If a test is unavoidable, let the student make up the test at another time (either before or after the test date).
