AP Psychology

Welcome back, students! Advanced Placement Psychology is a full-year course that introduces students to the systematic and scientific study of human behavior and mental processes. Throughout the year, as we learn more about the psychologists and studies that have shaped the field, students will explore and apply psychological theories, key concepts, and phenomena associated with psychological studies. We will cover topics including the biological bases of behavior, sensation and perception, learning and cognition, motivation, developmental psychology, testing and individual differences, treatments of psychological disorders, and social psychology. Throughout the course, students will employ psychological research methods, including ethical considerations, as they use the scientific method, evaluate claims and evidence, and effectively communicate ideas.

Course information will be presented through lectures, collaborative work, demonstrations, research, discussions, and multimedia supplements. Students will also use the textbook extensively in addition to the support materials and student assessment tools available through the AP Classroom. As a focus of our efforts, we will be working towards mastery of understanding the key concepts in psychology, analyzing quantitative data, and analyzing psychological research studies.

All assignment deadlines can be seen on the unit calendar below. Please remember that some assignments are not posted in Classroom and that students are responsible for collecting and completing all work after an absence.
