stretch (matrh)

A stretch in mathg, or a dilation is a transformation that typically distorts a figure by widening it or narrowing it (if it is vertical) within a certain direction, most commonly horizontally. In contrast to a stretch, a compression is the opposite which commonly narrows a figure instead, but can move both horizontally or vertically.
