The Central Library is one of 10 locations in Forsyth County of the Forsyth County Public Library.
You may check out up to 10 books at a time using your school ID/lunch number through our CLASS program. (Connecting Libraries and Students for Success). You also have access to our digital resources with that number as well.
Art gallery just off stairs/elevators - Community art displays as well as works from our art collection.
Using your student groups from earlier, have different groups start in different places in the library.
Starting places to start include:
1st Floor - Children’s Room, Computers/Media
2nd Floor - Carolina Room, Teen Room
3rd Floor - Balcony, Fiction/Non-Fiction
1st Floor (5-7 minutes):
Restrooms are located in the lobby and the Children’s library (to your left upon entry). Please accompany children into restrooms when using the ones off the lobby.
Pay attention as you travel through the building – we have an amazing art collection displayed throughout the building. Many of these are museum quality. Why would the library house an art collection that is worthy of museums? So that everyone in Forsyth County has access to these wonderful works of art. Maybe you can pick out a favorite as you walk through the building.
The first floor contains the main checkout area/front desk, and further to the left the children’s library. The children’s library serves children from birth to about age 12 and their families. You will note that there are fiction/nonfiction books, a computer lab, and children’s study rooms all available to you and your families.
We offer programs including STEAM programs, Lego programs, video gaming, storytimes, and craft programs for kids of all ages.
Straight ahead from the checkout area/main lobby of the library is the adult computer lab, adult meeting rooms and a Sound Recording studio (accessible by an accompanying adult with library card) as well as a computer/educational lab.
2nd Floor (5-7 minutes):
North Carolina Room (glass room) - A quiet space for research on family history/genealogy/NC history. All items are references and must remain within the room. Access to newspaper collection. The map collection includes maps older than the United states.
