ANSWER: We don't and can't know based on a classroom picture. Many other factors contribute to poverty. However, research has shown that when someone views a specific group, they begin to retrieve perceptions and trigger beliefs and attitudes about that specific group (Ferguson and Bargh, 2004, p.33)

Poverty is not the person, it's their situation. Students living in poverty should not be put in categories apart from their affluent peers.
