I would highly recommend GIV for anyone who wants an experience in a specific area of study, whether you want to pursue that in the future or you are just curious! It was an incredible time that I had, and I hope other people experience GIV like I did!
Recommendations for GIV: I think ending the day a little earlier would be helpful due to the lack of sleep that a lot of people were getting, which can bring on a lot of sickness. If some people don't mind going to bed later, there could be a last activity that they could attend before heading to bed. Other than that, everything was amazing!
Flex: I think much of what happened with this project was that I thought it was an amazing idea before I realized how much energy the rest of my classes would take out of me. I should have planned out the chunks and put them into my schedule, which would have made everything more efficient. I also had a lot on my mind with trying to fit back into this school after leaving for 2 years, getting college applications in, and trying to get all of my school work done so I have good grades. I think I would recommend flex to anyone who believes that taking on an independent study project will work for them and if they can plan their time right, that makes it even easier. I also recommend it only if you have the time to do something bigger like this. I think Ms. Thielen's part in this was a little confusing since we did end up going over some things that we had already gone over the other week, and tweaking the project made it even more confusing because I don't think we were completely on the same page. We couldn't meet consistently every time, which made it harder to keep momentum in this project.
As a learner, my takeaways were that I need to not procrastinate and I need to work on getting better at planning my time efficiently and putting the parts I need to do into my schedule.
As a human, I really only learned that I have the focus of a carrot and maybe I should work on that since it will not do me very well to be a bouncy bean in college while doing my work.
