I heard about it the first time in 9th grade in band, but I had never finished filling out the application, and then I had a lot happen that spring and summer. After I went to another school, I had forgotten about it until I started getting ready to come home again. I thought my time had passed for it, but my counselor, Megan Pachecco, told me this was a possibility. I applied for the hell of it, and got accepted! I was so thrilled about it, and it happened to be right after I came home for good.
I filled out an application...I don't have a copy of it because it is an online form that asks basic information about the candidate. They were mostly interested in why I was interested in GIV and specifically the arts. I talked about how art gives me a space to be fully myself and put my bigger emotions somewhere that was safer and made me feel better. I have an interest in STEM, but I wanted to spend two weeks embracing this passion that I have and getting skills that would improve my art and make me feel good about it.
I got accepted in April.
My mom did the finances.
I got the packing list and on the website, there was an example of the schedule.
