GTE uses the House System, inspired by the Ron Clark Academy. Ron Clark is a New York Times bestselling author and motivational speaker. Clark proposed 55 essential rules for success in and out of the classroom, many of which focus on respect and school policies, and later proposed 11 traits of excellence.
What to expect at GTE for the school year...
Each student will be sorted into a House. Each of Green Tree's houses are named after a tree. The six houses at GTE are:
Wisteria (the house of friendship)
Hawthorn (the house of strength)
Sequoia (the house of creativity)
Magnolia (the house of dignity)
Tupelo (the house of courage)
Catalpa (the house of integrity)
Each student is able to earn points for their house throughout the year by being safe, respectful, responsible, and much more. Specifically, we are focusing on the Leader in Me 7 Habits. There will be incentives and rewards for accumulating house points. Students are expected to support their own houses, but also encourage students in other houses. Each house will have students from kindergarten to sixth grade.
