Service Events

SERVICE HOURS NEEDED FOR NJHS:

• Bronze- 20 hour requirement met

• Silver- 21-30 hours of service

• Gold- 31-40 hours of service

• Platinum- 40+ hours of service

ALL HOURS ARE DUE BY THE FIRST FRIDAY IN MAY.

UPCOMING VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES:

FMS WALKABOUT DAY- AUGUST 6TH- This is an opportunity for you to support students and families at FMS, helping to guide them throughout the building and welcome them. We’ll have stations throughout the building to help in pairs. Click on the link for more details. This is not a required service event, but if you are able to come it will count towards your service hours for the year. 

You are always encouraged to find service opportunities on your own (or with friends or family) as well. Some possible ideas include volunteering at a shelter, visiting a nursing home, helping a neighbor in need (for free), cleaning up your neighborhood, volunteering at the food pantry, community events, vacation bible school, etc.

POSSIBLE IDEAS FOR OTHER SERVICE EVENTS AS A GROUP

1. Projects to support things we want to recognize in school? (birthdays, achievements outside of school, etc.)

2. nursing home notes/ caroling

3. holiday positive things

4. positive quotes (Mrs. S saw in another building that NJHS had hung them)

5. welcome video for incoming 6th graders

6. videos with study tips/organization for FMS students

7. welcoming students at walk-about days and helping to show them around 

8. posters giving testing tips (Dr. Greer request)

9. host world cultures festival at FMS (Dr. Greer idea)

10. PAW PARADE 

11. Blood Drive

12. Parent-Teacher Conferences- guides for parents so they know where to go

13. Read with kindergartners from DRE

14. Leader in Me Lesson Presentations
