How do I let the counselors know we need help?
As a parent, you can email the your child's teacher or counselor to let them know you'd like them to talk with your child. You can share as little or as much information as you'd like.
A student can talk with their teacher or another staff member to request to talk with a counselor.
If a teacher or staff member receives a request to talk with a counselor or if they feel that a student could benefit from talking with the counselor, they will scan the QR code to share that information.
Counselors are notified when the QR Code is scanned and a request has been made. Typically, they are able to visit with that student by the end of the next school day.
Individual counseling in a school setting is very different from private therapy. School counselors do not provide therapy. Rather, they are able to talk through situations that make it difficult for students to be successful at school on a short term basis. If needed, counselors can talk with parents about additional resources that may be beneficial for their student.
