BTE classroom lessons are based on Missouri Learning Standards for school counseling and aligned with the American School Counseling Association Mindset and Behavior standards. Lesson topics are based on student need from the program planning survey given to parents, teachers, and students yearly. Each classroom will receive monthly lessons designed to increase student knowledge of academic, career, and intra/interpersonal skills. Lessons will engage students with hands-on activities, opportunities to collaborate with peers, and utilize research based instructional practices.
Below are the topics taught by BTE Counselors each month. This is subject to change as new learning standards were just released last spring and we are aligning these with our previous grade level expectations.
August Introduction to the Counselor
September Zones of Regulation
October Red Ribbon Week (Drug Awareness)
November Gratitude / Empathy
December Friendship Skills
January Bully Prevention
February Differences
