Free Summer Meals

WSD3 will provide free summer meals to children under the age of 18 every weekday May 27 - Aug 1.

Locations

Widefield Parks and Recreation: 755 Aspen Drive
Pinello Elementary: 2515 Cody Drive
Sunrise Elementary: 7070 Grand Valley Drive

Times

Breakfast will be served 8:00 - 8:30 a.m.
Lunch will be served 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.
Meals must be enjoyed on site.

There is no sign up or forms to fill out to participate in this program.

Menus can be viewed at 🔗 Widefield Nutrition Services under the menus tab and selecting any school and the meal period. Please contact Nutrition Services at (719) 391-3560 if there are any dietary or nutritional concerns. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

WSD3 Free Grocery Store

Community members take a tour of the new Goodr grocery store Monday. The store is at the Security Public Library and provides Widefield D-3 families in need with food items at no charge.

WSD3, in partnership with🔗Goodr, has opened a grocery store at the Security Public Library. This initiative, sponsored by Colorado Community Health Alliance (CCHA), repurposes edible food waste from local businesses to combat hunger. The store provides 200 identified families each month with regular access to fresh produce, canned and frozen goods, and other nutritious items, restocked weekly. The district uses criteria to identify families each month that will have access to the grocery store, ensuring that the resources reach those who need them most throughout the school year.

United Way

To enhance youth success and family stability in the Pikes Peak Region, 🔗Pikes Peak United Way leads and lifts the most vulnerable in our community with mentorship, life resources and real job opportunities. Their signature programs and partner agencies intently focus on connecting youth and their families to resources at the beginning of their life journey to ensure access to fundamental needs of food, shelter and learning resources for all. Care and Share

Locate food pantries and programs with traditional shopping experiences. Some locations provide outdoor walk-up, drive-up options, mobile markets, and food pantries. More information can be found on the 🔗Care and Share Food Bank website.

God's Pantry

🔗God's Pantry is located at 30 Widefield Blvd. Suite A, Colorado Springs, CO 80911. They are open Monday through Saturday, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. They offer free food and clothing. For more information, call (719) 382-0643.

Open Hands Food Pantry

🔗Open Hands Food Pantry is located at 123 Security Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80911. Their Food and Clothing Pantry is open to the public every 1st and 3rd Saturday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. For more information, call (719) 392-3322 or email info@israelitecogic.org.

Westside CARES

🔗Westside CARES offers groceries at six Colorado Springs pantries to anyone in need. We also assist with signing up for SNAP benefits, and offer snack bags and occasional hot meals from our central office.

Marian House Kitchen

🔗The Marian House Kitchen provides free, hot, nutritious meals daily to struggling families, seniors, veterans, and individuals experiencing homelessness. Lunch is served Monday through Sunday, 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., featuring a balanced meal of entree, sides, salads, bread, and dessert.

Samaritan's Kitchen

🔗The Springs Rescue Mission serves three nutritious meals every day of the year to anyone who walks through the doors. Samaritan's Kitchen is located at 5W Las Vegas Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80903 and offers breakfast at 5:45 am to 7:45am and dinner at 4pm, 4:30pm, and 5pm. SNAP

The 🔗 Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) helps low-income households purchase healthy food. Families can double their benefits value by shopping at participating vendors that support the Double Up Food Bucks program.

Summer EBT

🔗Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer (Summer EBT) helps families purchase healthy food for the months in which students are not in school. Eligible students include those who qualify for free or reduced-price meals, as well those receiving other assistance benefits, including SNAP.

FDP

🔗Food Distribution Programs (FDP) work directly with households in need of food assistance. FDP includes the Commodity Supplemental Food Program, The Emergency Food Assistance Program, the National School Lunch Program, and the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
