During Grades 1 and 2 we will be working on the following musical skills and concepts (and more):
How to sing on pitch (pitch matching)
Finding a steady beat
Moving to music (dancing)
Interpreting meanings of different musics
Creating patterns from sounds and musical ideas
Performing, listening to, and demonstrating awareness of music from different times and places
Participating actively in musical activities
Describing musical concepts (i.e slow and fast, high and low, loud and soft, etc.)
All of these skills and concepts will be learned a variety of ways, such as through games, reading and writing, singing songs, and playing of instruments.
Music learning is cyclical, meaning we will go through all of these skills and concepts, (and more), repeatedly throughout the year.
