Situation: Independent reading is a must for our students. However, in order to promote reading but give freedom in choices, we need to implement current and relevant projects for our students. Book reports are a thing of the past. Even I cringe when I hear the words.
Problem: In order to give our student freedom of choices, we need to set up a project(s) that allow for creativity but also ensure original, genuine work.
Goal-aligned strategy: In the examples provided below, please see multiple engaging strategies that align with our state core standards.
Digital Tools: Multiple digital tools are prevalent in these websites. Please see below for each digital tool being used.
YouTube
Youtube is valuable digital tool. In the examples below, you can see that each student has made a playlist. They have imported the song and added the necessary criteria for each song. My students had a great time with this assignment.
Adobe Spark
Adobe Spark can be used in many ways. Here are a few ways that I have implemented Adobe Spark into my classroom:
All About Me Bookmarks
Character Quote
Album Cover
Editorial Review
Adobe Spark Video
Making a video using Adobe Spark is a great tool. Students are able to record their voices. This is a wonderful option for students and teachers. Many students are not comfortable speaking in front of their peers. This is a perfect gateway to get them started. This tool is also helpful for teachers. Presentations can sometimes eat up valuable class time. These are submitted through their website and can be graded at anytime.
Google Sites
Google Sites for my students is a no-brainer. It can't get "lost". There are so many valuable technology techniques that students can develop. And this website can be developed into a digital portfolio that a student can use beyond their school years.
Layouts
Opportunity for student to create with colors, fonts, and pictures.
Pages for each project
