As a music department, we want to take our groups places to perform that are outside of Vermont. Most travel will be within the United States, however, there will be opportunities for performing internationally as well. In order for us to do this, everyone will have to have the proper documentation in order to leave and re-enter the country.
Please keep in mind that there are different requirements for persons over and under the age of 16.
Please be sure to note the differences between a REAL ID, ENHANCED ID and a US Passport. Each website does a great job of explaining this and if you have any questions, please ask.
REAL ID - This is the official link to the Vermont DMV for REAL ID.
ENHANCED ID This is the official link to the Vermont DMV for ENHANCED ID.
US Passports - This is the official government site for starting your passport application (whichever situation applies to you)
When applying for a passport, please keep in mind the following:
Routine - 4 to 6 weeks
Expedited - 2 to 3 weeks
Urgent - Must make an appointment and have international travel within 14 calendar days
Include the time your application is at one of our passport agencies or centers.
You may get your passport on a different date than your family member or friend.
Mailing times are not included in processing times. Consider the total time it will take to receive your passport when you are booking travel.
It may take two weeks for your application to get to us, and two weeks for you to get your passport after we mail it.
Children under 16 traveling to Canada - This link from USA.gov details traveling with children under the age of 16 and what is required for documentation.
For larger trips where we will fly or travel internationally, we will most likely be using a tour company who will have the exact requirements for each individual that will be on the trip. As trips are announced, we will have informational meetings where parents and students will be able to learn what is needed and be able to ask questions. Also, please keep in mind that the information in the links provided on this page can be updated at any time as government regulations for travel change.
