Preset ELOs

Micro ELO:

Dental Hygienist

We have partnerships with multiple dental offices in the area. If you are interested in exploring the Dental Field, this Micro ELO is a perfect starting point. It will entail 1-3 days of job shadow experience, feedback from your mentor, and written reflections to document your time. Students can also tie this ELO into their college application process.

Career Exploration: Entrepreneurship

Using online courses through Khan Academy and EverFi students will begin exploring the world of Entrepreneurship. As their ELO continues they will conduct research and informational interviews with professionals in the area(s) they're interested in forming their own business around. Students conclude their ELO by producing a final product that reflects their business plan or their future pathways here at WRHS, including mapping out their future classes and experiences prior to graduating.

Career Exploration:

Fashion Design

Using their created objectives as mini research projects, the student will create a small portfolio of work. The work will culminate in a final showcase of their portfolio, as well as creation of 1 or 2 pieces of clothing with sketches. Students are also encouraged to complete a job shadow or internship at a local tailor, create a full fashion line, put on a recycled fashion show that highlights learning objectives, or take part in a fashion design camp. Students can also tie this ELO into their college application process.

Career Exploration:

Interior Design

Students will be partnered with one of our local community partners to take part in a series of job shadows that may lead to a full internship in the following year. Students will also take part in an interior design course created by themselves and the WRHS art teacher. Throughout their work on and off site students will also be assigned readings, podcasts, or documentaries to view and take note on in order to learn more about the career process. Students can also tie this ELO into their college application process.

Student Teaching

Internship

The Student Teaching Internship for WRHS is modeled after the program at Plymouth State University. We have modified it to fit high school learning objectives and competencies. Students will first take part in a meet and greet interview with their future Teaching Mentor. This will be followed by an invitation to take part in a Job Shadow. If all goes well the student will move into their Full Internship. Their experience will culminate with the teaching of a fully prepared lesson which will be observed and then debriefed. This program takes place off-campus. If students are interested in teaching at the high school level, they will be placed in a high school out of the district.

Baking and Entrepreneurship: Job Shadow or Internship

We have an incredible connection with the local bakery, Ooo La La Creative Cakes. Students take part in a 1-3 day Job Shadow that can then lead to a full Internship, while also completing weekly reflections and additional research to meet their learning goals and objectives that were developed from the state Culinary Arts Competencies. Students need to be sure that their schedule allows for this commitment as the hours are rigorous. Part of this experience also includes learning about the business side of the baking industry - delivery, wedding consultations, customer service, ordering, scheduling, etc. If the student is interested in the full internship they must have the pre-requisite of both Foods courses at WRHS and/or taken and passed all culinary courses at the HUOT Center.
