An Understaffed District
By almost any measure, staffing throughout our district is well below average and considerably lower than most comparable districts. The data below reflects staff comparisons provided by the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education from the most recent year available.
The WRSD teacher to student ratio has lagged significantly behind the Massachusetts average as well as peer districts.
For example, for our district to have reached the state average in FY24, an additional 97 teachers would have been needed.
