Parents and Guardians of Room 2,
Last week, we welcomed 5 new Grade 6 students to our class and had to say goodbye to our Grade 5s as our school went through a reorganization. As a result, our class is now exclusively a Grade 6 class.
Today, I sent home instructions for logging into a math practice website called Reflex. Students will have time to work on this in class, but if they have any extra time to work on it at home, that would be beneficial. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Last week, I sent home the permission form for our upcoming field trip to Blair Outdoor Education Centre. This is an all-day, outdoor event. Please sign the permission form on School Day as soon as possible. If you are available to volunteer as a supervisor, please indicate your availability on School Day.
In the last update, I sent out a survey about homework, but I have only received a few responses. As a result, I won't be sending any mandatory class homework, but will provide options for families to complete at their leisure. I will add more as we start using them in class.

Indoor Shoes: Students are encouraged to bring a pair of indoor shoes. These keep our floors clean and are required for gym class.

Nightly homework is to complete 20 minutes of reading. Additional homework will be assigned as needed (usually only if work is not completed during class time). Notice will be provided on Google Classroom and in class.
Google Classroom is the primary tool I use to post assessments (with due dates and timelines), create discussion and a place to communicate feedback. My goal is to set all parents up as guardians. With guardian status, you will receive a notification email that gives you a breakdown of assignments that the students have been working on in class.
My name is Mrs. Stephanie Stone, and I am the proud teacher of the grade 5 and 6s in room 2! This is my 20th year teaching and my 16th year as a proud Clemens Mill Dolphin.
I have two children: Ewan (14) and Elysia (12) who up until 2 years ago both also attended Clemens Mill. A few years ago, we moved to a different area in Cambridge with my husband (Dave), so the kids decided to make the switch to their home schools.
I spend a lot of time working with my husband on home and cottage renovations, strength training at our favourite gym, playing lots of volleyball and practising and teaching yoga.
