Each sections contains games, activities, shows and more for students to enjoy in French. Some links may re-direct to an English page, but there is an option to change back to French. Bonjour de France- This website has a lot of activities for all aspects of the French language and it is in relation to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Le Point du FLE - On this website, click on the “Apprendre le français” option to guide you to a page with a variety of options for French language skills. I suggest clicking on “Nos exercices audio de lecture AlphaLire” or “Vous apprenez à lire” for practice with French reading at a variety of levels. Additionally, there are a lot of worksheets for grammar concepts that are useful.
Idello- For this website, students have to create an account to access the multimedia content in French geared for students from kindergarten to Grade 12. Here they will find relevant videos that are accompanied with comprehension questions and tools to facilitate understanding.
Duolingo – This free app can track progress and includes subject-focused vocabulary to help your child expand their understanding. Topics start at a beginner level and build up in complexity.
News in Slow French – This app offers soundbites and news articles appropriate for older students. The free intermediate content should be a good challenge for Gr. 7/8 students.
If your child has their own smartphone, encourage them to change their settings to French so that information on their phone is in their target language. It is a quick way to become familiar with French vocabulary relating to technology and social media!
