🖇 Encourage connections between math concepts by:
connecting forward and backward counting patterns
taking time to name the movement between place value columns as multiplication and division by factors of 10
making proportional number relationships explicit (e.g. 4 000 is half of 8000, 0.3 is one-tenth of 3) by using a variety of concrete representations
integrating decimals and fractions with whole numbers and place value to help students work with them in familiar ways (like they have with whole numbers for years)
