Visual Art courses (AVI) allow students to explore traditional art mediums such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and printmaking, as well as learn about art history, art criticism and design concepts. These courses progressively develop skills from grade nine to grade twelve, while expanding the range of mediums and techniques introduced.
EDSS offers two entry level Visual Arts courses, one at the grade 9 level and one at the grade 10 level. Both courses are designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of art, including the exploration of a variety of mediums, introduction to art history and art criticism, and the elements and principles of design.
Note: It is recommended that students take their compulsory art credit in grade 9.
Grade 9 students interested in Visual Arts should sign up for this AVI1OI course. This course is designed to introduce students to art mediums, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and printmaking. Students will explore new techniques and build confidence in their artistic abilities.
By the end of this course, students will be prepared to take grade 10 Visual Arts
