Business is among the most popular fields of study at universities and colleges. Business graduates are in high demand worldwide as business affects every aspect of modern society. Careers with a business degree/diploma are diverse and are many times highly paid.
Even if one does not want to pursue a business related career, every career has a "business" side to it. Every industry needs accountants, marketers, managers, financial analysts and technology support staff.
Basic knowledge in Business studies will offer invaluable knowledge that can be transferred to any career or job choice they pursue.
“Business Studies courses at Elmira are designed to develop and promote characteristics and skills for success, regardless of what career path students may follow.”
I recommend taking business courses in high school because they helped prepare me for my higher education courses and gave me background knowledge, which gave me an advantage over my peers and helped me succeed.
At EDSS, I took the grade 9 Introduction to Computer in Business (BTT1OI) course, Grade 10 Introduction to Business (BBI2OI), Grade 11 Introduction to Accounting (BAF3MI), and Grade 12 Accounting Principles (BAT4MI). I was also a Teacher Assistant for the Grade 9 BTT1OI course.
I just finished an accounting course at Conestoga College, and it was terrific to have the previous experience and knowledge that the EDSS Business Teachers provided me. I also made many friends with my classmates and teachers during the courses, and I know that the knowledge I learned in these classes has and will help me in my future.

I definitely suggest taking it (BTT1OI). It helped me so much in my other courses, especially in Science (doing presentations) and Math.

This course (BTT1OI) helped me in a co-op placement nearly 3 years later. You really use it in the workplace for jobs you don’t expect to need to. It was honestly such a great help and without it, I would have been lost.

It (BTT1OI) helped so much with future courses. Being able to already know how to use the software definitely puts you a step ahead of the class.

Financial accounting last year (in University) was super easy as it was basically a repeat of accounting in grade 11 and 12 so except for some qualitative information studying wasn't really necessary. For those who didn't take accounting, they found it very difficult and didn't do nearly as well overall.
