Wakefield Memorial High School
NEASC Visiting Team,
Welcome to Wakefield Memorial High School. We are a school of about 850 students within a larger school district of 3300 students. WMHS, along with the other schools in the district, focuses on meeting the needs of all students while inspiring a love of learning.
Our school system relies on two core theories of action to ground our work. We believe that:
If we provide students with a rich and challenging curriculum, high-quality instruction, and individualized learning experiences in a learning environment shaped by our core values, then our students will be well-prepared for college, career, and community.
If we promote emotional and mental health, cultivate safe, welcoming, and healthy schools, and develop responsible and resilient students, then all students will successfully access learning and confidently navigate their world.
Our current goal is to provide differentiated, culturally responsive learning experiences that enable all students to access curricula and progress toward learning goals. We seek to provide support for all learners in terms of both their academic and social-emotional growth. This work aims to help all students in our school community feel seen, connected, and valued. Our professional development plan parallels these goals and provides teachers with the knowledge and tools they need, as well as PLC and department time, to integrate this work into their daily practice.
We are excited about your visit and look forward to your feedback, which we will use to help guide our future work. If at any time during your visit you have questions or need more information, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Steering Committee or the WMHS Administration. We hope you enjoy your time at WMHS!
Sincerely,
Amy McLeod, WMHS Principal
