Designed to help families and teachers work together to support learning, the guides are available in English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and Simplified Chinese.
Wilmington Public Schools recognizes that parents/guardians have the right to opt their child out of required instructional activities or lessons which primarily involve sex education or human sexuality issues pursuant to Massachusetts General Law Chapter 71, Section 32A. We also recognize that parents/guardians may request to opt their child out of required lessons or activities that may, based upon an identified religious belief, present a substantial threat of undermining the family’s religious beliefs or interfering with the religious upbringing of their child pursuant to the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in the matter of Mahmoud v. Taylor. The Curriculum Opt Out Form is the curriculum/required instruction/required activity opt out request that you will need to complete and return to your child’s building principal identifying the specific content/required activity you wish to opt your child out of and the basis for your request.
