In student-centered art classes, we explore materials and appropriate techniques for each media to develop our creativity and craftsmanship. Our art media includes: drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, 3D construction & assembly, textiles & fibers, and clay. We also explore connections to local and global history, ecology, and culture as we develop our visual voice!

As we navigate uncertain times, I want to provide links for optional at-home art enrichment on this site:
- Art For Kids Hub (youtube channel) is a Shawsheen favorite! Follow along a with video of a dad artist and his family as they draw step by step.
- Art Projects for Kids has great guided drawing sheets and other simple activities.
- Lunch Doodles with Mo Willems at 1:00 every weekday through Kennedy Center Education
- Mr. Mauriello's "No School! What to do?" links for activities and more! (Need a WPS account to access.)
- Additionally, if you have a child at home who really wants to spend time on art:
- Cassie Stephens is an art teacher guru who is also trying to offer great at-home art ideas on her blog.
- Deep Space Sparkle is another great website with colorful guided projects to explore.
