Grade 3: Massachusetts and its Cities and Towns: Geography and History

How can my art impact the world locally?

In grade 3, students will look at art created in Massachusetts throughout the last five centuries. They will explore the cultures of the Wampanoags and the early settlers to artwork created today around the world. In the Fall, we study radial designs from Hunterwasser to Kandinsky, and Guatemalan kites and Native American medicine shields. By winter, they will discover the ecological importance of Duck Stamps and cultural importance of self portraits. Look forward to Colonial-inspired self-portraits, ship and whale seascapes, weaving, sewing, ceramics, and more!
