Whanau Harakeke - Finlay Park Camp 2024

Our year 5/6 camps offer invaluable opportunities for growth, learning, and self-discovery that will give your child enriching experiences and lifetime memories.

Finlay Camp provides a unique setting for your children to venture beyond the confines of the classroom and embrace exciting outdoor activities like, kayaking, team-building challenges, climbing walls and high ropes, go karting, axe throwing, archery, shooting and much more! These adventures not only cultivate physical strength and endurance but also foster a sense of exploration, resilience, and an appreciation for outdoor education.

The camp environment promotes camaraderie and teamwork, allowing your child to foster deep and lasting friendships with their peers. Through shared experiences, collaborative tasks, and interactive games, they will continue to learn to communicate effectively, make compromise, and support one another. These social connections lay the foundation for enhanced interpersonal skills, empathy, and self-confidence that will benefit them throughout their lives.

Participating in a school camp in Aotearoa empowers and cultivates confidence in your child to step outside their comfort zone and develop a sense of independence. Away from home and familiar routines, they learn to navigate new surroundings, make responsible decisions, and solve problems autonomously. This newfound self-reliance often goes on to foster resilience, adaptability, and a sense of personal achievement, equipping your child with essential life skills for future challenges.

"School camp offers the opportunity for students to develop the dispositions and skills the literature associates with resilient children. Over- coming obstacles and personal limits to realise you are more than you know; having the chance to demonstrate leadership skills other than class based and excel; the ability to connect with nature and understand the healing and balancing nature of this to your own brain and mind; not to mention the ability to actually APPLY all the things TALKED ABOUT in the classroom.”
– Nathan Wallis.
