At Woodfield, we feel computing and the use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) is central to the education of all children for the 21^st century. Our pupils have the opportunity to develop and apply their technological understanding and skills, which enables them to establish a broad and balanced view of the digital world.

Computing has deep links with Mathematics, Science, and Design and Technology, and provides insights into computer systems and how technology is used around them. The core of computing is computer science, in which pupils are taught the principles of information and computation, how digital systems work, and how to put this knowledge to use through programming. Building on this knowledge and understanding, pupils are equipped to use information technology to create programs, systems and a range of content.

It is essential that our pupils are taught how to become digitally literate – able to use technology, develop their ideas, express themselves and interact by sharing and collaborating. As part of their study in digital literacy, students learn how to be safe and effective users of technology and understand the impact that their digital footprints leave.

By supporting our learners to be digitally literate we are helping to prepare our pupils for a future in modern society.
