Today was the first day since we arrived here that afforded us the luxury of sleeping in. It will also be the last.
After enjoying a rather delicious hotel breakfast, we relaxed until 10:45, when we walked not even five minutes down the road to where our ATV tour began.
The tour was muddy and sloppy, to say the least. It rained on and off overnight, and it poured at one point this morning. Our tour was free of rain, though. Some photos of us on ATVs can be found below. This tour was (mostly) bumpy, wet and crazy, so taking photos was not an option.
This photo below is when we started. We were actually clean back then. We only had two students old enough to drive (John and Jenia). Everyone else rode on the back of one of our ATVs.
This is our view of the volcano. Pretty great! Unless you want to see the volcano. While the weather has cooperated with us for the most part, it hasn't afforded us the views that have been seen in the past.
Our group was separated by at least one ATV. Please enjoy these shots of parts of our group. Yes, Clay is there, probably not hiding behind Mrs. Fischer.
Once the first part of the tour concludes, we find ourselves at a river. The guides allow us to take a dip in the river, and there's about 30 minutes set aside for this activity. It's tradition to get a group photo on the rocks.
The boys also spent some time swimming and being taken through the river by the current. Clay was the one who found the current first, inadvertently. But everyone went for a ride, even Mr. Fischer!
We then drove/rode back to the start, but not before going through major puddles of water. Let's face it. They weren't puddles. The view from before one of them is shown below. And in case you're interested in watching a video of all of us getting splashed with dirty water, your wish can come true below.
We then walked home and got some pizza, sodas and chips to enjoy by the pool. We didn't go out and get a big meal because we wanted to eat dinner early. It was already about 1:45pm by the time we ate lunch.
Then we went out to dinner downtown. From there we took a taxi to the hot springs at Tabacon. It's not easy to get good photos over there at night, but we did get a few photos of the boys and of the setting - which happens to be amazing.
No student reflections today. We hope to have two tomorrow!
Tomorrow morning we have our last adventure. We'll depart early for a raft safari. With any luck, there will be some great photos of animals on the blog tomorrow.
